Vic20 Memories

The Vic20 was my first computer I owned which I got for Christmas in 1982. I have many great memories of the system and even now it intrigues me how well a system with 5K ram, a MOS 6502 CPU running at 1.108404 mhz and a VIC graphics chip could create some great games. With the limited system specs, and no hardware sprites game quality varied widely. Many were poor but some really surprise, if you you even get chance to play Gridrunner, Defender or Jetpac at a retro event you wont be disappointed . People like Jeff Minter cut their teeth on the Vic20 and many of his Vic versions of his games were as good as his C64 ports. The reason for this post was I thought the Video out was faulty even when using a decent RGB scart cable, I have tried it on a number of screens but it was until I connected to a recently purchased CRT TV that everything became clear. It was fine.
